Service Description

The Peak District has a rich folk history and is steeped in stories which can be mapped to specific ancient sites and wild places. Drawing inspiration from folktales surrounding Macclesfield and the local area, in this 2 part course you will have the opportunity to develop your drawing skills as you work with oak gall ink, made to a medieval recipe, natural drawing tools plus modern artists' fine liners. You don't need to have any experience to enjoy the class, which is designed for all levels. Beginners and nervous returners will be given step by step tuition by your tutor Michelle Shore, a local illustrator and folklore enthusiast, alongside guidance in techniques and expressing ideas for those who feel more confident. Create your own unique map of your favourite walks, standing stones, barrows, ancient buildings and folklore illustrations. All materials and equipment provided. The classroom is on the ground floor of the Silk Museum and is wheelchair accessible. Male, female and unisex disabled toilets next to classroom. Tea and coffee facilities to make your own during the class.
