On Petrykivka painting, from your artist and tutor Valeria, who recently came to live in Macclesfield after escaping the Russian war. "Petrykivka means for me to be connected to my homeland, which is especially important these days. It’s also as a connection to my roots: when I’m painting I’m remembering my grand mother’s houses, where I saw lots of things painted with Petrykivka. It’s a sweet and sorrow memory of childhood, that already passed, but also a transition of history and traditions to my own child. It’s also making me very happy to be able to share this technique with many people as some different cultural traditions and practices."
