Service Description

DIscover the ‘grand teint’ plant dyes and techniques that have been used for thousands of years to colour textiles. Together we will study the images of the 11 th century Bayeux tapestry and the pigments used to create them. This will lead us in dyeing British wool yarn and heritage woven cloth to re-create the vibrant hues of the embroidered Norman Conquest and Battle of 1066. With these you will design and create a medieval coin purse or pomander to fill and take away. Perfect for history geeks, textile lovers, stitchers and experimenters. No experience necessary.
